Some of my personal builds

Built as a box stock replica.
Starting with a Polar Lights '69 Charger Funny Car, the hood had a scratch built hood scoop added to an off set.
Engine mounts were re-shaped to fit off set engine. Rear end pumpkin location
was also re-located
as well as a seat relocation.
Pearl white base coat & topped with pearl candy red paint.
Slixx decals.

Built as a box stock replica.
The
resin model chassis & interior tub were tossed out and replaced with
2-plastic Model King Tempest Funny Car chassis' to do new alterations.
The original Cowl was re-cut to pull the doors in (due to a poor fit problem).
The front Valance was scratch built as well as the taillight & grill.
The Interior Tub was replaced with a Model King Tempest Funny Car (altered to
fit)
and new door panel's added).
Decals:
MCW supplied the white sponsor decals.
All black tiger stripes were hand painted to match 1:1 cars stripes.

Both front & rear wheel wells were altered.
Lindburg Dodge chassis was altered to fit, as well as the interior tub and door
panels.

An amt '66 GTO and a '67 GTO were used for the wheel well alteration's.
Plans are to some day build a correct chassis for it and cut off the front clip.....
or do an all new body for Speed City ?
The "FABULOUS FARMER" name comes from an article in: DRAG RACING MAGAZINE

Using 2 -
Model King Barracuda Funny Car kits, the front wheel wells were moved forward
9".
Rear wheel wells were hogged out and flared.
An original '66 interior tub was altered to fit (rear seat was removed).
MCW decals
were used, but re-painted over all red area's (and drop shadow's).
Re-painted over all gold metallic letters.
Re-painted over green & gold SKOOTIN' & CUDA letters and Cuda on skateboard.
Re-shaped Revell Keystone mag wheels to resemble "REBEL wheels"
Scratch built features: Firewall, front frame clip, Hemi Hilborn Injection Manifold
(now available),
rear of chassis and frame, rear valance panel, windows & roll bars.

All body alterations, headers
(aluminum tube), Transmission pan,
straight tube axle, B&M stick shift & box, all roll bars, head rest,
interior floor, trunk floor, hood hinge,
molding around hole in hood, headlight block outs, licence plate backing, firewall
and gas tank frame rails.
"Chevy Hilborn Injection Manifold"
(This Hilborn Injection Manifold was created for "Speed City"and now
being sold as #SC-6).
"Reversed Halibrand Rear Mag Wheels"
(These Halibrand rear wheels were created for "Speed City"and now
being sold as #SC-3)
2- sets of
Slixx decals were used, as the bottom stripes were not included and I wanted the
colors to match.

Started as a resin model, but the resin body required these alterations:
The 2 - Hood vents were filled in, B-pillars installed, inner bumper moldings, wiper
holes, headlight extensions,
Bumpers were replaced with corrected '66 Ford Galaxie bumpers, chassis was scrapped
and replaced
with Revell Thunderbolt chassis, along with the interior tub & door panels....
also heavily modified.

To make the Caliente grill: I used sheet plastic and made grill mesh from door screen.
Mercury grill emblem (cut from AMT '66 Ford Galaxie grill), fuel injection manifold, 4" injection stacks, dash board,
headlights (from '66 Ford Galaxy), taillight block outs, hood supports, firewall, drive shaft, magneto, gauge face plate,
parachute pull, parachute
mount, front suspension,
trunk divider & hood scoop, header extensions, head rest, roll bars,,
front tube axle, hand painted "SOUTHERN PRECISION GRIND INC." lettering.

Scratch built features:
A '64 Dodge 330 sedan roof was grafted onto a '64 Plymouth Belvedere body,
single head light grill (fabricated from a double headlight grill).
rear wheel alterations, firewall, front and
rear smooth valances, lip around front mag wheel,
rear seat deck, roll bars, green tinted side glass
& clear glass (front & rear).

Started with
2- amt/ertl '66 Nova S/S kits.
The front wheel wells were moved forward and the front part of the rear wheel
well lip was curled.
The hood was glued to body. The grill was re-fabricated to resemble a '67 Nova
grill & head lights.
A Polar Lights F/C chassis was shortened 6" to fit new '67 Nova body. Rear Air Foils.
Slixx decals were used.
This is the centerfold from
Hot Rod Oct 1989 that made me want to build this model.
The car went on to win:"Baddest Engine of the year award" in 1989" and
Best of Hot Rod Magazine"1989" and "TOP TEN" of the decade honors for the 80's.

Back drop
with splatter paint & Hot Rod logo, Radiused & Flared rear wheel wells,
Dashboard, 2-piece tinted windshield, roll bars, front suspension, fuel cell,
header extensions, parachute mount,
fire extinguisher pull pin, Intake block, Mallory Super Ignition, dry sump system,
distributor cap,
valve stems & coil over shocks.
Painted in Guards Red..... (same color as the real car) !

Scanned and re-designed the original decals to better match the color from the
box art.
New shadowing on the "CHARGER" letters, new color for the blue triangle
and new color for the plum panels.

All red panels on top of car
were taped off and sprayed with Guards Red.
Hand striped all top panels with yellow pin striping. Kit side panel mpc. decals
were used.

This model was built in 1995
(before the re-issue MPC model or the die-cast) !
Starting with
the body from the mpc. "More American Graffiti" Coupe, the separate
roof was molded to the body.
The doors were cut out and hinged, new rear fenders were cut from an amt. '32
Ford.

This was made to be a sister car to the Revell MISS DEAL Funny Car.
Starting with an original Dodge Revellion body.
The hole in trunk was filled in along with making new chrome windshield
ring.
Hole was cut in hood for Injection Stacks.
Front & Rear wheel wells were moved forward to fit
Revell Miss Deal chassis.
The funny thing is: This new wheel base fits the original Dodge Revellion Dragster wheel base correctly now).
A Revell "Parts Pack" Grill was used.
Paint: Candy yellow & custom mixed candy gold was air brushed over a metallic silver
base.

Built box stock with pearl
yellow & candy blue canopy.
Pin striped by hand and silver flocking was added to the interior walls &
floors.

Box Art was made in Photoshop and designed to resemble other Ed Roth model boxes.
This started as an R&R Resin model, but the entire body was completely re-sculpted !
The inside of body was thinned to the thickness of a standard plastic model body and took 3 days
of extensive labor,
grinding with a Dremel Tool, Files & Misc. sand papers. The rear deck was also stretched 10 scale inches.
Hood's and canopy were all hinged (using the "Speed City" FLIP NOSE FRONT END method found on the "MODEL NEWS" page).
Scratch built features:
Frame, interior tub, floor & sides (modified from
an amt Silhouette interior tub), engine surround and
firewall, bubble top ring, custom seat, gauge cluster, push buttons on deck, tape
deck door, tail light & tail pipes.
Other misc. parts were used from several Revell "Ed Roth" kits to keep the integrity of a ROTH kit. A few parts box items too!
This model took "BEST IN SHOW" at the Modelrama model contest in Culver City, Ca. on May 8 2011.

Built in 2001.
Many changes were made to the original MPC kit to produce a correct looking replica.
Slicks were swapped out, headers from MPC Malco Mustang Gasser were cut separately and flipped around.
Scratch built high rise intake manifold, 8 scale inches were added to the bottom of the side panels.
The entire frame and other parts were chrome plated by: Chrome-Tech U.S.A.
It was entered in a model contest for the first time on 11/ 7/ 2017 and was voted "BEST SHOW ROD".
